A baby-like skin seems to be a far-fetched dream with all the pollution, dirt and heat we encounter everyday. With lack of personal time, all we do to care for our skin is buy expensive stuff and spend big bucks at the spa, but do not pay heed to little symptoms of major skin problems. With little awareness and knowledge about skin problems, future skin damages can be avoided without spending thousands on it.
Common skin conditions like rashes, skin infections, sunburns, blemishes and blisters and various allergies may turn into a huge problem if not nipped in the bud. One may have never heard of potentially life-threatening skin disorders but they do exist and may infect the skin and mucous membranes of mouth, nose, eyes and genital parts. Skin specialists or dermatologists are the only way out in such serious conditions.
The various other
skin problems may be sunburns or other radiations, pimples and acne, and severe allergies. Environmental problems can also cause skin modifications, yeast, fungi like in ringworm or athletes foot and inherited medical ailments like psoriasis and eczema. These can be treated by effective household remedies but medical consultation should also be considered upon its gravity. Sun exposure should be reduced drastically for the sensitive-skinned and sunscreens should be used irrespective of the skin type and season. Allergies can be reduced by removing contact with the cause of reaction and seeking out the cause and prescribed treatment will almost always prevent it from being worse.
The added responsibility with the regular beauty regime is also looking out for substances that trigger out allergic reactions on the skin and taking care of eruptions and boils on the skin with deep pore cleansing and facials. Bacterial infections have to be taken care of by medical consultation only. OTC products may be very tempting but medicated products are safe to play with backed by prescriptions.
Though men have always sported the rough and rugged look, even they need to take care of their skin. Man’s skin is about 25% thicker and the skin texture is tougher than a woman. Also the oil production in man’s skin is greater than woman’s and hence they have longer lasting acne. The collagen content which is related to skin aging is denser in men and hence their skin do not age quickly, but this benefit is nullified because men are not sun savvy.
Men’s skin care is not as rigorous as the women’s but the most they have to do for a healthy glowing skin is having enough water, avoiding smoking and alcohol, exercising regularly, avoiding junk food, using moisturizers, face wash and sunscreen and using single blade razors just after the showers. Luckily, men are sorted out with just this regular regime.
May it be men or women, skin care is definitely a concern and one must take regular care of it.
